This trip was a one week dental mission in Treasure Beach, Jamaica. March 17-24th, 2007. Eleven Temple Dental students and one hygienist traveled to provide free dental care, and two American dentists met us there. The clinic had 8 fully functional dental chairs that had overhead lights, suction, and hand pieces. An emphasis was placed on extractions early in the day but as that need was met, operative and preventive dentistry prevailed. Being in an environment where operative dentistry was possible, every attempt was made to save teeth rather then extract. The experience was amazing and very rewarding to be able to give back. I can't wait for the next trip!
